Ranging in age from 10 to 60, women fuel wood carriers are among the poorest in Ethiopia, with incomes averaging less than $12 a month. Often the sole provider for their households, these strong women struggle to meet financial, education and health care challenges. As we hear their stories and their hopes for the future, we understand the complexity of the need and work with former women fuel wood carriers to identify effective ways to respond to those needs.

We are a non-profit, social enterprise addressing the needs of women and families living in Mt. Entoto, Ethiopia by supporting sustainable income development, improved educational opportunities and increased access to basic health care.
My name is Tirunesh. For 17 years I supported my family with the income from selling wood. Today I live with my children and am happy and praise God for his provision. My dream is to continue weaving scarves and to have a sustainable income.
